C Paper Sizes

Unlike A and B series, the dimensions of the C series paper sizes are defined by the ISO 269 international paper size standard. One great use of this series is for envelopes. The height and width of a Cn format area is the geometric mean between the A and B series paper sizes of the same number. This means that C4 is between A4 and B4 in size. This also means that the paper size A4 will fit into a C4 envelope. Just like the A series and the B series, the C Series also has an aspect ratio of 1:√2 and because of this reason, an A4 paper size when folded in half, will fit perfectly into a C5 envelope. If instead you try to fold it twice, it will fit into a C6 envelope, and on and on.
