Information

British Imperial paper sizes were used before the United Kingdom approved the ISO 126 standard. The paper sizes of the Imperial approach were used to determine large sheets of paper, the naming assembly was gained from the sheet name, and the number of times that it was folded. For example ‘Royal’ paper which was of a size 508mm x 635mm, and when it was turned over three times, it made 8 sheets and it went by the name ‘Royal Octavo’ which is 253mm x 158mm.
