Information

The paper size standard in France started using the ISO in 1967. But France had their own paper size structure before this. In 1926 AFNOR standard paper format was established and the paper formats in this system followed their paper patterns. These paper formats are still in use nowadays. When the paper is made by hand, they are marked with watermarks. The watermarks symbolises the names of the paper where they came from. There are some versions of the formats that are known as double or quadruple variant. An example of a quadruple variant is Soleil (600mm x 800mm) and Cloche (300mm x 400mm). While from the double variant is Grand Monde (900mm x 1260mm) and Carré (450mm x 560mm).
